This Radburn footage from the early 1940s was extracted from a 16 mm silent film by Ronald Campbell (1907-?), who worked as a San Mateo County Planning engineer before becoming an executive for the David Bohannan Organization.
Great film. Amazing that you found it. The song makes it. I see the sandboxes were there that early, now gone. A shot of my backyard at 12 Burlington Pl at 1:25 with fir tree very small, thirty years later it was huge and my father cut it down, took up too much of the property. Can see the pricker bushes lining our property on the park, there from the begining, just recently cut down by new owner. Thanks for this memory.
Amazing find! Thanks for sharing this clip. It’s so nice to see Radburn in its early days and reflect and appreciate on how after so many years, this bold urban planning concept still holds the benefits and pleasures it held for its early residents.
